After beating a heavy field of longboarders, he placed third and finished the year in ninth position in the world rankings.
Peruvian longboarder Lucas Garrido Lecca placed third in the Taiwan Open World Longboard Surfing Championship, the most important stage of the world longboard circuit.
In the semi-finals, the goofy footer was defeated by Taylor Jensen of the United States by 15,37 to 13. The result gave him 3000 dollars and 6500 points, which put him ninth in the world ranking.
On the way to the semis, Garrido Lecca beat a heavy list of longboarders: Phil Rajzman, Jack Entwistle, Steven Sawyer and Ben Skinner, in that order.
The Taiwanese left where the event was held and finished favored the Peruvian's longboarding, who achieved the best result of his career.
The event was won by Brazilian Rodrigo Sphaier and Hawaiian Honolua Blomfield who was crowned world champion. In the men's category, the title had been won the day before by Justin Quintal.
