Peruvian Vania Torres has just won the SUP Surfing world championship in El Sunzal, El Salvador, after a thrilling final that was decided on the sand, several minutes after it had ended.

Torres needed a 5,84 to surpass Luchy Cosoleto and received a 6,2 which, added to the 6,23 he already had, gave him 12,43 and surpassed Argentina's 12,06.

Aline Adisaka came in third place with 9,3 and Gabriela Sztemfater in fourth with 7,9.

Torres said she couldn't believe what was happening when she got out of the water and took the opportunity to thank those who support her, such as her family, her coach Luis Eduardo Escudero, and the coaches present, such as Cristóbal de Col and Gabriel Aramburu.

As far as the team ranking is concerned, the result continues to favor the Brazilians who already have one gold, one bronze and one copper.

The day continues with the SUP and technical paddleboard races.
