Peruvian Surfing Federation to file complaint over Alonso Correa's priority situation

The president of FENTA said that the decision was “a robbery” and that they are going to ask for the result to be reversed

The Peruvian Surfing Federation will make a formal claim, it was not reported whether to the ISA, the IOC or Paris 2024, asking that the priority decision be revoked in the already controversial rowing battle between Alonso Correa and Gabriel Medina in the battle for bronze at Paris 2024.

On Radio Ovación del Perú, in the program 'Negrini Lo Sabe', according to the newspaper El Comercio, Jaime Gensollen said: "It was obvious that the priority judge in the Olympics robbed us. After both of us had ridden a wave and returning to the point where the wave was formed again, the two of them rowed together but the one who got there first had the first priority to catch the next wave. That wave was caught by (Gabriel) Medina, however the one who got there first was Alonso Correa, so he had the priority," he explained.

Richard Navarrete, technical member of the FPT, expressed the same opinion: “In this case Gabriel Medina executes (the wave) and that is where he gets more than seven points, when said wave corresponded to Alonso Correa. The technicians of the trip just arrived yesterday, we are going to evaluate with the legal part, since we seek to present the claim as soon as possible, we want them to rectify what was given.”

El Comercio literally writes: “The FPT seeks to reverse the result against the Brazilian surfer and for the bronze medal to go to Peru.”
