Peruvians Jhonny Guerrero and Raúl Ríos qualified for the WSL Youth World Cup

By reaching the semi-finals of the Pro Junior that is taking place in Lobitos, they sealed their ticket to the big test that will take place in Taiwan in December.


Peruvians Jhonny Guerrero and Raúl Dañino had a dream day today in Lobitos and, by reaching the semifinals of the Pro Junior that is being held there, they guaranteed themselves two of the four places that South America takes to the great world championship that will take place between December 1 and 9 in Jinzun Harbor, Taiwan.

After having gone through the qualifying series, Guerrero and Dañino started the day in the best possible way since, having been ranked in the same series against two Brazilians, they achieved the respective one-two to then get into the quarterfinals that defined the qualifiers.

Guerrero beat another Brazilian, Diego Aguiar, and Dañino was better than Daniel Templar, also from Brazil. Now they will face each other in the semis, but with a guaranteed ticket to the great world championship that has been won by several of the best in history, from Andy Irons to Gabriel Medina.

Among the women, the semifinals were determined; the current South American champion, Peruvian Sol Aguirre, will face Maju Freitas from Brazil and another local, Daniella Rosas, will face Tainá Hinckel, also from Brazil.

The women will not decide today whether they will qualify for the World Cup because a new stage will take place in Brazil next week.
