Pharrell Williams to develop wave pool in his hometown of Virginia Beach

The already announced project called The Wave was approved, which, complete with shopping malls, restaurants and hotels, will cost 330 million dollars.

13-time Grammy winner Pharrell Williams is the man behind the newest and most innovative wave pool construction in the world.

According to various media outlets and even Williams himself, The Wave will take place in Atlantic Park, Virginia Beach, where the singer was born and raised, and will be powered by WaveGarden technology, but like so many other projects it will only be a facilitator for a host of other facilities.

Hotels, restaurants, shopping malls, co-working spaces and more will cost around 330 million dollars.

“In some ways this project started when I was a kid. I was going to work with my grandmother and I was intrigued by the futuristic façade of the dome-shaped building. It made my young imagination run wild. Today I have the opportunity to bring the dome back to life in a way that is very inspiring. We call this vision “The Wave,”” says Williams in the presentation video.

Opening dates have not yet been shared, but it is easy to say that the world is filling up with wave pools of all types and colors.
