Playa Grande and its two main waves, Biología and the Yacht, are part of Argentine surfing folklore. It is one of the most popular training grounds for the best surfers in the country, the natural setting for international events that have been held there since 1995 and for national events since institutional surfing was born in Argentina.
Several of Mar del Plata's best local surfers explain why this is so in this video.
