Jhony Corzo, Alan Cleland, Dylan Southworth, Shelby Detmers, Regina Pioli and Leila Takeda make up the Mexican team that will participate in the 2019 World Surfing Games in Muyazaki, Japan between September 7 and 15.
In the 2017 edition of the World Surfing Games, the Mexican team reached its peak, obtaining the men's world title with Jhony Corzo and the team copper, finishing above the powerful federations of the United States, Japan, Peru, Brazil and Costa Rica.
Last year they felt a noticeable drop in their performance, ranking 17th overall; in 2016, in Costa Rica, they ranked 14th.
An interesting change to their roster is the presence of young Alan Cleland, who was a finalist at the US Open and has been making waves on social media with his repeated clips showing him breaking.
They will travel accompanied by team officials Alonso Hernández and Poly Sierra.
