Venezuelan Magnum Martinez is the new coach of the Puerto Ricans
The Puerto Rican Surfing Federation has selected the team of surfers who will be seeking a spot in Paris 2024 and Santiago 2023, the country's federation reported in a statement posted on social media.
The statement also praised the work of the country's new coach, Venezuelan Magnum Martínez, who resides on the island of enchantment, and who will be a key part of the process that aims to take the Puerto Ricans to Paris 2024 and Santiago 2023.
Those mentioned are:
Short Board
Men:
Dwight Pastrana
Ricardo delgado
Brian Toth
Giancarlo Mendez
Women:
Havana Cabrero
Mia Calderon
Jolari Carrera
Miamar Soto
Faviola Alcala

They also clarified the following: “The technical director may invite different athletes, not listed in this statement, to participate in specific training sessions.”
For the SUP Surf division, the following athletes will be considered:
Max Torres
Dave de Armas
Omelv Garcia
Nimsay Garcia
Amanda Rivera
Jolari Carreras
Puerto Rico has not yet managed to get a surfer into the Olympic Games.
Veteran Brian Toth, 37, is one of the new additions to the team. He was a QS competitor for several years and came close to qualifying for the CT on more than one occasion.
His ability in tubes like those at Teahupoo, the venue for surfing in Paris 2024, is believed to be one of the reasons why coach Martínez took him into account.
