Punta Rocas stage cancelled: Arena Rodríguez is South American champion

She and Catalina Zariquiey qualified for the WSL World Cup


The stage of the regional junior tour and QS 2024 that was to be held in Punta Rocas, Peru in November was cancelled and therefore the Peruvian Arena Rodríguez was announced as the South American junior champion and together with Catalina Zariquiey they qualified for the world championship of the WSL division, reported the local Peruvian website Surfplace and confirmed to DUKE the WSL press office.

Arena Rodríguez had an almost perfect season this year with three wins and a second place in four events contested.

The Punta Rocas event was to be the fifth stage of this year's circuit that included Peru and Brazil, but for reasons that were not disclosed it was cancelled.

This also crowns Ryan Kainalo as a two-time junior champion, the Brazilian also qualifies for the world championship together with his compatriot Cauet Frazao.

The World Cup has been held in California for the past few years. It is traditionally held in December or January.

The location for this season's tournament has not yet been revealed.
