In the midst of the social crisis in El Salvador and around the world due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the hotel and surfing academy Puro Surf got to work to help nearby populations; as the first campaign was a success, they decided to go for more and created “Waves of help”.

According to information provided to DUKE by Puro Surf, the first $10.000 raised was used to distribute 500 basic food baskets to families in El Zonte, Punta Roca, Julupito, Caserío El Coco and other communities in the area.

“It is due to the desire to continue supporting these families that Waves of Help was born, a new initiative created by Puro Surf. With which we seek to raise another 10.000 dollars to make possible a second delivery of basic food baskets that will benefit 500 families. We would even like to be able to surpass that goal to continue helping as many families and places as possible,” the institution said in a statement.

“We want to invite our friends to join the cause for which we have enabled a link on GoFundMe called Waves for Help where you can make your donations. This is a difficult time in which we must unite and support with what we can. Everyone's donations make a difference so that a family can have food and be able to go to sleep peacefully knowing that they will have something to eat the next day," they added.

Puro Surf is a Hotel, Restaurant and Surf Academy in El Salvador that seeks to inspire people through the Puro Surf experience, which is made up of 4 pillars: Rest, good nutrition, personal growth through continuous learning and helping others through social projects. For now, the latter has become our priority.

The Puro Surf facilities became a collection center and food distribution center for nearby communities.
500 basic baskets were distributed and now they are going with waves of aid of 500 more.
The community is grateful.
