The Arica QS, which was originally going to be worth 3000 points and would have a women's QS stage and two junior pro tour stages, decided to cancel the other events and maintain the men's professional stage but raising its level to 5000. This was reported by the WSL in a communication to athletes and confirmed by the modified calendar on the institution's website.

This makes the South American Pipe Masters the highest scoring event of the year in the regional qualifier for the challenger series.

A tournament in Alagoas, Brazil, was announced for 5000 seats, then dropped to 3000 and is now off the calendar.

The other major tournament that appears is a QS 3000 in Saquarema between September 19 and 25 and would be the one that would close the 2022 activity in the region.

To create the ranking that will classify, in principle, 10 men and four women to the challengers, the regional stages until April 2023 will be taken into account and the four best results will be taken regardless of the number of stages completed, WSL Latin America informed DUKE.
