Californian Rachael Tilly was crowned world champion minutes ago after beating her neighbor Soleil Errico for the second consecutive time at El Sunzal, which provided perfect waves throughout the day of the finals.
Errico continued with the consistency and class of all the days of training and the entire day of competition in which he beat Honolua Blomfield and then Errico twice.
The decisive series was won by Tilly by a narrow margin: 15,04 to 14,67.
In the last five minutes of the competition, both Tilly and Errico surfed a wave; the former improved her score slightly to 6,8 and the latter needed 8,5.
The judges waited but did not give it to him, he received an 8,1.
Tilly was crowned world champion in 2015 at 17 years and eight months, becoming the youngest WSL champion in history.
Almost 10 years later he achieved his second title.
When she came out of the water she was carried by her French friends Zoe Grospiron and Alice Lemoigne and declared that it has not yet dawned on her but that she knows that this is a dream come true.
