Sol Aguirre won the Máncora stage and qualified for the world championship in Taiwan

Peruvian Raul Rios was crowned South American champion today, becoming the first Peruvian man to achieve this title. To do so, Rios won the final stage of the WSL regional circuit on his home waves in Mancora.

With this result, Ríos qualified for the WSL Junior World Championships in Taiwan, an event in which she already competed last year without achieving a significant result.

In the final, Rios defeated Fernando Junior of Brazil. Ricardo Williams of Peru tied for third with Lucas Vicente.

The Peruvian had just won in Brazil last weekend and at home, he repeated a very strong performance.

“I am very happy to have this event at home and to win because the level is very high,” said Raúl Ríos. “I am very happy to be the first Peruvian to be the South American Pro Junior champion, I worked hard and the victory in Brazil gave me the confidence to win the title.”

The Peruvian party did not end there, Sol Aguirre won the women's event and guaranteed her ticket to the junior world championship in Taiwan, this time in second place.

In the final she was superior to her compatriot Daniella Rosas and in third place were Maju Freitas and Julia Duarte.
