Rumble at The Ranch live blog: Toledo and Ho win first post-pandemic WSL event
The Brazilian saved the best for last and took the victory alongside the Hawaiian

The team formed by Filipe Toledo and Coco Ho won the Rumble at the Ranch, the first event that the WSL organizes after the Covid-19 pandemic.
Toledo, who had fallen on more than one right, managed to combine the best maneuvers of the day in the grand final to receive a 9,5 which, despite Ho having added a normal 6,57, made it impossible for Igarashi and Weston Webb to reach.
The Brazilian showed once again that he is in shape and that he is always one of the favourites in Slater's pool.

Igarashi and Weston-Webb made it to the grand final
Surfing under pressure is one of Japan's Kanoa Iagarashi's most sensitive skills. He needed a high score to make it to the grand final and he did more than that. He surfed the best wave of the event by doing two aerials on the right to receive 9 points which, backed up with a 7,5 from Weston Webb, put them into the grand final.
It was the series with the highest combined total score of the event, defined by 16,5 to 16,17.
The official scores were:
Kanoa and Tatiana: 16,5 (9+6,5)
Caroline and Adriano: 16,34 (8.5+7,67)
Toledo and Coco to the grand final
Filipe Toledo fell again on the right but surfed one of the best waves of the day on the left, scoring 8,9 for his team and forcing Slater to go for 9,1.
The 11-time champion went for the score on the right but fell on the third move. Then on the left he tried a double 360 but did not complete it.
Toledo and Coco Ho won with 15,96 versus 10,33. The Brazilian-Hawaiian team made it to the grand final as the favorites.
Official result:
Toledo and Ho: 15,96 (8,93+7,03).
Slater and Erickson: 10,33 (Kelly's 3,5 + 6,83)
The semis were defined
The Rumble at The Ranch semifinals were decided by a last-minute victory for Tatiana Weston and Kanoa Igarashi over the favorites Griffin Colapinto and Lakey Peterson.
It was the highest total score series in the event, with the Japanese-Brazilian team winning by 16,03 to 15,87, making both scores the highest so far in the event.
In the last wave of the series, Weston needed 7,77 and after landing a left hand and a tube, the judges gave him 7,93.
This is how the semi-finals ended:

Adriano and Caroline destroyed Conner and Kirra
The highest combined score so far in the event was achieved by Adriano de Souza and Caroline Marks who added 15,6 to beat Conner Coffin and Kirra Pinkerton by more than five points.
Adriano, Caroline and Conner were all up to par, scoring similar high sevens, but young Pinkerton was clearly a victim of nerves and fell on both of her waves.
While this series was on the water, Slater came into the booth and opined that Marks is the person to beat in this event.
The final score was:
Adriano and Caroline: 15,6 (7,83+7,77)
Conner and Kirra: 10,2 (7,87+2,33)
Kelly and Sage Erickson left out Carissa and Seth Moniz
The best in history made it clear that at 48 years old he doesn't have to retire because he's breaking through. On the wave he built, he made the best combination of tubes and powerful maneuvers of the day to receive 8,23.
Sage Erickson, quite nervous, needed a 5,6 and received a 6 on a wave that she surfed correctly but did not take many risks.
The final score was:
Slater and Erickson: 14,23 (8,23+6)
Moore and Moniz: 13,70 (7,6 for Carissa + 6,1 for Moniz)
Toledo and Coco left Kolohe and Spencer out
The surfing was very conservative from both pairs, but young Alyssa was unable to complete either of her two waves and put up a fight.
The final result was:
Filipe Toledo and Coco Ho added: 14,07 (7,67 for Filipe and 6,4 for Coco)
Kolohe Andino and Alyssa Spencer added 11,34 (6,67 for Kolohe and 4,67 for Spencer)
This is how the picture goes:

The first was a fall
The Rumble at the Ranch began at Kelly's pool in Lemoore, California with an uncharacteristic mistake from Filipe Toledo in his heat against Kolohe Andino and Alyssa Spencer with Coco Ho.
In his second move he applied too much pressure and was thrown off balance.
