The Salvadoran Federation clarified that it will hold trials under the mandate of the WSL

He invites those who disagree with the measure to contact the league directly.

The Salvadoran federation clarified in an Instagram story that a trials test will be held immediately prior to the CT by mandate of the WSL and not by its own choice.

“On March 4th at around 4PM, our president José Díaz held a meeting with the executive vice president of the WSL, Graham Stapelberg, who reported that the mechanism chosen by the WSL to provide a wildcard to a Salvadoran athlete (is) asking the ranked athletes to take part in the trials that will be qualified by the WSL,” the statement begins.

He added: “This mechanism is put in place exclusively by the WSL and not by Fesasurf, and we are willing to clearly answer any questions you may have.”

And concludes: “In case of particular objection regarding the mechanism chosen by the WSL, we invite you to communicate directly to the official WSL media”, referring to the WSL.

After it was announced on the local federation's social networks that the criteria would be that the top 10 surfers of stage 1 to be held on the Costa del Sol would compete, comments on social networks expressed disagreement.

The main argument was that Bryan Perez deserves the wildcard without any competition.

Following this flood of comments, the federation issued this response.
