"I had a hard time finding waves that had barrel potential, but when that wave came in, I knew it was it," Sam Reidy said of his morning gem.

And he added: "When I started paddling, I knew I had to put the gas on straight away and start building speed. And once I was in the tube, I calmed down a bit, passed the foam ball two or three times, and then started building speed again to get out of the doggy door."

"And the best part is that when I got out of the tube, I saw my team's coach filming on the beach," the Costa Rican concluded.
