Panamanian Samanta Alonso confirmed her presence at Lima 2019, as she herself announced on social media yesterday, and DUKE was able to confirm this with sources related to the qualifying process.

Summer Macedo, a surfer who had qualified through the ISA World Surfing Games, will not be present at the surfing debut at the multi-sport event and that is why Alonso was invited.

The 12-time Panamanian champion wrote on her Instagram: “I have no words, today I received very important news for Panama, my career and for the sport of surfing: We are going to the Pan American Games in Lima 2019, for the first time surfing is present and I will proudly be its representative. We will continue working to give it our all.”.

This change joins the no given by the Colombian committee to Daniel Olmos and the entry of the Salvadoran Bryan Pérez.

The ISA did not issue a statement on the matter, nor is it known how the classification criteria were interpreted.

According to the ISA-PASA-ALAS hierarchy, the next in line on the ISA ranking list would be her compatriot Zoe McDougall.
