CT member Samuel Pupo suffered a hard blow to the face while surfing at Pipe's Backdoor, lost consciousness and was unable to protect himself, so he appears quite injured, he said in a post on Instagram.

“I decided to post this here so that no one is surprised when I go into my next series and also to say that everything is okay, it was just a scare…”, she began her message.

He added: “I ended up hitting my face on the rocks while surfing Backdoor two days ago, in the middle of the crash I ended up losing consciousness and I was unable to protect myself or avoid contact, I was very dazed for a few minutes but since then all symptoms have been positive. I have been sleeping well and feel like I am recovering quickly.”

Pupo placed third in his Round 1 heat and now heads into the elimination round against Ryan Callinan and Joel Vaughan.
