Canadian goofy footer Sanoa Olin secured her qualification for Paris 2024 after winning the bronze match against Leilani McGonagle and securing her ticket to the grand final where she will face Tatiana Weston Webb (BRA).

The Brazilian has already qualified for the Olympic Games through layer 1 in the classification hierarchy, the WSL CT and therefore, the first eligible athlete will be the other one in the grand final, in this case the Canadian Olin.

That is to say, no matter what the result of the grand final is, Olin will be the one to qualify for Paris 2024 through Santiago 2023; she is the first eligible athlete.

This is the first time in history that a Canadian surfer has qualified for the Olympic Games in surfing. In the previous edition in Tokyo 2020, there was no presence of the North American country in the event.
