The second edition of the Copa Río de la Plata de Surf is confirmed to take place this summer in Punta del Este, the organization reported on social media.

“Uruguay and Argentina are preparing for an event that is becoming a classic summer event in Punta,” they explained in the post.

They added: “In 2025, the Cup will be back with a renewed image and the same passion as always. We will soon share more details about everything that is coming and some surprises that we will tell you about later.”

After several years, the first edition of the cup marked the return of international tournaments to Uruguay.

The event pits the best surfers from Argentina and Uruguay against each other and consecrates a team that is the champion of the Rioplatense classic, as well as a male and a female surfer.

Last year's edition saw Argentina crowned champion thanks to victories by Nacho Gundensen and Vera Jarisz.
