The Secretary General of the Pan American Surfing Association (PASA), Paula Muñoz of Chile, was elected as a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Pan American Sports Confederations (ACODEPA), PASA reported this week on its website.

Muñoz, who was president of the Chilean federation a few years ago, was elected with 22 of 25 votes at the Ordinary Assembly of ACODEPA, held on May 19 and 20 in Lima, Peru. Her term will run from 2023 to 2027.

ACODEPA brings together the Sports Organizations of the Americas.

“This is a great victory for surfing and for PASA, we wish Paula much success in her management!” declared the president of PASA and vice president of the ISA, Karín Sierralta.

“It was very important for us to include a woman in the ACODEPA executive committee. For PASA, it is important that women have a greater role in sport so that it continues to have an equitable development. For this reason, Paula is the ideal candidate for the position, due to her long career in the sport of surfing, as well as her values, which have made Paula continue to reap successes in her career as a leader. I am very happy for her and for PASA,” he added.

PASA is in the midst of the build-up to surfing in Santiago 2023, the second presentation of the sport at the second largest multi-sport event in the world.
