Selman after surfing in Waco: “The aerials section is perfect”

Interview with the Chilean about his first experience in a wave pool

Last Thursday, Chilean Manuel Selman went surfing in the middle of Texas, far from the ocean and salt water, in what is considered the best surfing pool in the world (before Slater added his ramp).

Taking advantage of that famous section, his clip of the trip did justice to the wave's fame and Manuel flew about 20 times (in one minute) in every possible way.

This is what he had to say about his first experience surfing in a pool, during the height of the artificial wave fever.

How did the trip to the Texas pool come about?
I was invited by Marcio Zouvi, the shaper of Sharpeye Surfboards!

Tell us about your first impressions of the wave in general:
I don't know, I've seen it so much on Instagram... And the wave was no different. It was impressive to see the first one breaking early.

How would you describe the different personalities of the wave?
The wave has four different shapes, the four for the right and left, sets of three pro waves, sets of three intermediate waves, the tube and the aerial ramp.

How long do waves last and how often do they occur?
They are all every 45 seconds and each set has three waves in a row.

They say the aerials section is brutal and it shows in your video, did it live up to your expectations?
The aerial section is amazing, perfect for flying.

After trying it, would you like to have one close to home?
I will definitely be back, but the ocean is the ocean! Nothing beats Mother Nature providing waves!

How do you feel now for the US Open?
I'm at the trials, I feel great, it's a shame that the waves are coming but I'm going to give it my all, I have good boards under my feet.
