Only one contender was nominated for the presidential nomination: Colombian Andrés Porras, who received two of the 17 votes eligible, and Sierralta received the rest.
Two new vice presidents were added to the board of directors: Panamanian Roger Castillero and Argentine Freddy Tortora were elected, joining Ecuadorian Xavier Aguirre who was also re-elected.
Chilean Paula Muñoz was reassigned to her position as secretary of the organization.
The term of these authorities will last four years and they may be re-elected without limits for now.
According to the statement, President Sierralta announced new sports and cultural exchange projects between U18 athletes from the Americas and France, as a cooperation initiative of the organization of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, who are promoting Olympic values and sports culture around the world. This activity would be taking place in February 2024.
“Also during the activity, President Aguerre (present at the meeting) presented a heartfelt tribute and recognition to Secretary General Muñoz, who is also part of the Board of Directors of the Association of Pan American Sports Confederations (ACODEPA), for her years of hard work in sports leadership and the positioning of women in the sports world,” the statement added.
“It is very difficult to be a woman in the world and being a woman in the world of sport is even less easy,” said President Aguerre, thanking Muñoz for her efforts.
Meanwhile, the re-elected president Sierralta declared: “I would like to deeply thank our friends, the presidents of the federations of the Americas, for their trust for another term. We are sure that by expanding the executive committee as well as the new athlete and technical commissions created, we can continue to build a better future for continental surfing.”
