Simmers and Gentil were officially named Rookies of the Year

The Californian finished fourth in the ranking and the Hawaiian 14th

Caitlin Simmers and Ian Gentil were officially named WSL Rookies of the Year yesterday, in a note published on their website and app.

Although the ranking result was already established in August when the regular season ended, with Simmers in the finals and Gentil in 14th place in the ranking, the institution announced it yesterday with a video.

Simmers had a flawless debut on the tour, finishing fourth in a second season in which she had managed to qualify (she denied her place in the first classification). The Californian from Oceanside won the Portugal stage and the Rio de Janeiro stage and had several other expressive results.

Gentil had a mostly consistent year with brilliance at El Salvador where he finished third and at JBay where he finished fifth.
