The 2023-2024 WSL South American circuit will begin tomorrow in Lobería, Galápagos with the Sails of Change Cup, men's and women's QS 1000.

The regional participants who will qualify for the 2024 challengers will begin to be defined.

Below are six favorites to win the event:

Alonso Correa
A power surfer to the extreme with some very hot elements of modern surfing, Alonso Correa is not afraid to put his board in the most critical part of Lobería, nor to look for the tubes, much less to fly.

He is the favorite to take home the 1000 champion points.

Alex Suarez
He has the local band on his side and is having a good time, at every event he goes he is a high-scoring machine.

He is also not afraid to put his board into the critical parts of the heavy waves at Lobería and also has a very strong aerial game.

He will go all out for the opportunity to fight at home to have a good championship.

Mariano Maugere
He is motivated by winning the first ALAS in the youth category, he is used to surfing heavy and perfect waves. He is part of a school of young surfers who know how to compete well and doing it in a paradise with perfect and warm waves will encourage him to give 10% more.

He is not afraid of heavy sections and has a good repertoire of maneuvers. He will put in the effort to fight for the top spots.

Dominic Barona
She is the queen of Ecuador surfing at home, with the fans on her side, just as she likes it, and even better, in a sea that is expected to be good, just as she likes it.

If Lobería is hitting those powerful right-handers he will have a good chance of winning at home even though his rivals are tough.

Melanie Giunta
The Peruvian power surfer who has a lot of experience when the sea is rough and who is not afraid to attack and make powerful moves in the critical.

It is an event and a wave that adapts well to the surfing of the local Señoritas and is going to be a tough nut to crack in Lobería.

Sophia Medina
The Brazilian is pure talent and determination. She is young and on the rise, but she has shown in events such as the Pan American Games last year that she is not easily intimidated.

He will compete in a different sea than the Pan American, but he comes from spending a season in Hawaii and has invested a lot of time in El Salvador, the heavy and perfect waves are not foreign to his surfing.

He has what it takes to win the championship.
