He spent half a day in a hospital in Rio de Janeiro
The greatest surfer in history, Kelly Slater, has contracted H1N1 flu and has been hospitalized at the Copa Star hospital in Copacabana in the southern part of Rio de Janeiro, the surfer reported on social media and on the Globo Esportes website.
Authorities said that "the surfer received emergency treatment in the morning and was discharged in the afternoon after receiving medication."
Prior to posting that he was sick, Slater shared some stories from other fans and friends, photos of ads that feature him around the world and a design that pits him against Filipe Toledo, who beat him in the Brazilian leg.
