Slater in Brazil: “Changing a diaper has become more important than surfing a wave”

"I never wanted to earn a dollar, I just wanted to work on something I believe in," she said about her company; she also swapped wigs with a comedian influencer.

“Changing a diaper has become more important than surfing a wave,” said Kelly Slater yesterday at the close of the first day of Expert XP, an investor conference being held in São Paulo where he was invited to speak.

He said this in contrast to his previous life, when surfing consumed his entire life to become the best surfer in history and, for many, the best athlete.

According to Brazilian media outlet Info Money 25, Slater closed the day by talking about his vision as an entrepreneur and his professional life, as well as the contrast between the two facets of his life.

Referring to business, he said, "It's important to have principles, and these can always be aligned with your business." Regarding his ventures, he explained, "I never wanted to earn a dollar; I just wanted to work on something I believe in."

He said that at Outerknown, "We've made social governance the company's number one priority. In our factories, everyone has good wages and good working conditions. It's more expensive to produce, we don't produce large volumes, and it's a risky business plan."

Some fans had the opportunity to share with Slater, one of them being influencer Fausto or Menzinho, who managed to put a wig and glasses on Slater and take a selfie.

The same influencer had been at the Saquarema CT a few weeks ago.
