Peruvian Sofia Mulanovich made it to the final of the main event of the 2019 edition of the ISA World Surfing Games presented by Vans. The Peruvian will have two chances tomorrow to make it to the final and secure a medal.

She will face Tatiana Weston Webb and Silvana from Brazil and Bianca Buitendag from South Africa.

Today, heading to continue on the path of the undefeated, she defeated Brisa Henessy of Costa Rica and  Anata Lelior from Israel, Shino Matsuda from Japan and Eveline Hooft from the Netherlands.

“I'm happy, I got some nice waves, it was fun and the truth is that I've been super calm throughout the event, I think that's helped me a lot,” said Mulanovich after getting out of the water.

The Olympic qualifications wrote a separate story, as it was determined that Bianca Buitendag from South Africa, Ella Williams from New Zealand, Anat Lelior from Israel and Shino Matsuda from Japan had set foot in Tokyo 2020, taking the slots from Africa, New Zealand, Europe and Asia that were in order in this tournament.

They are all waiting to see what happens at the 2020 World Surfing Games, which are more important than this one.

Spaniards Nadia Erostarbe and Leticia Canales were very close to the spot, reaching the 7th round of the repechage and finishing the event in 13th and 15th respectively. The first European replacement was the Dutch Eveline Hooft who also finished 13th but had a better score.

Japan's qualification on its own means that, according to the regulations, one more place will be opened up at the 2020 World Surfing Games.
