Sofia Mulanovich returns to the world circuit
The former world champion will be in San Bartolo this weekend, starting a year that she hopes will take her to the Pan American Games in Lima 2019
At the press conference for the Reef Pro Triathlon, QS 1000 that will take place in San Bartolo this weekend, it was repeated more than once that Sofía Mulanovich would be returning to the world surfing circuit in the aforementioned tournament.
The Peruvian people celebrated that they would be able to see their prodigal daughter, the only female world champion in the history of Latin America, returning to competition with consistency.
Sofia, who is now 34, had left the elite in 2013 and tried to return in
a couple of times without having the success she hoped for. However, along the way she won tournaments in San Bartolo and Punta de Lobos; it was no coincidence that the Peruvian won a title and remained in the top 5 for seven years.
Asked by DUKE, this is what Sofia explained: “I am going to compete in some events this year; San Bartolo, Mar del Plata, Zarautz and others with the intention of qualifying for the Pan American Games in Lima 2019. Yes, I will return to compete in nationals and in some WQS”,

She added: “The goal is to regain competitive rhythm in order to be considered as a possible candidate for the Pan American Games.”
This Saturday the QS 1000 Reef Triathlon Pro begins at the second pier of San Bartolo. The event is for men and women and has the following surfers in round 1:
