Sol Aguirre and Josefina Ané guaranteed their qualification to the Challengers

Daniella Rosas and Silvana Lima are also in; Mimi Barona made it to the quarterfinals but it is not clear whether she has already qualified or not

By making it to round 2 of the Salinas Pro, Peruvian Sol Aguirre and Argentine Josefina Ané guaranteed their passage to the Challenger Series that qualify for the CT 2022, according to the calculations made by the WSL South America and published on its website.

Both Aguirre and Ané managed to pass their round 1 heats, which according to the WSL press officer is enough to guarantee themselves a place in the top 5 of the South American ranking that classifies the five best in the region for the test prior to the elite of world surfing, which is the CT.

For her part, local Mimi Barona had to qualify for the quarterfinals to beat Analí Gómez, who was fifth. In a statement from the WSL, it is reported that Julia Duarte can still compete against her, but on social networks the announcement by the beach announcer that Barona qualified can be seen.

Even her relatives congratulate her on social media for the achievement.

The other two places, number one and number two, are now for Silvana Lima and Daniella Rosas from Peru.

“I am very happy to be able to get through in the last few seconds, which guaranteed me a spot in the Challenger,” said Ané. “I am happy to be in Ecuador competing in these two stages of the QS. The previous championship, in Montañita, had incredible waves, now we are here in La FAE, which has a wave that I also love.”

Sol Aguirre said: "I'm pretty tired. It was a difficult heat, with very good competitors, but I'm happy to get through because I've already qualified for the Challenger Series."

The quarter-finals were established as follows:
1.a: Daniella Rosas (PER) x Sophia Medina (BRA)
2.a: Julia Duarte (BRA) x Nairê Marquez (BRA)
3.a: Melanie Giunta (PER) x Isabela Saldanha (BRA)
4.a: Dominic Barona (ECU) x Summer Macedo (HAV)
