Visibly in pain and practically unable to use her right hand, Peruvian Sol Aguirre finished second in her round of 32 series and made it to the round of 16 of the Ericeira challenger.

The Peruvian said on her Instagram stories that she cut her right hand with her fin while surfing and that she was in a lot of pain the day before and during the series, which is why she was seen standing using one hand and her elbow.

Sol received two stitches and with almost no mobility in his hand he went into the water with a wristband and a glove.

She came just behind former CT Sophie McCulloch and ahead of Zoe McDougall and Isabella Nichols.

She will now face Australian Ellie Harrison in the round of 16.

The other Peruvian still in the event, Daniella Rosas, also surfed well, finishing her heat in second place, behind Sally Fitzgibbons and ahead of Kobie Enright and Ariane Ochoa.
