Sol Aguirre will be a wildcard in the Saquarema CT
The Peruvian received the call from the WSL and is traveling from Indonesia to Rio de Janeiro to compete in the first A of world surfing
Peruvian Sol Aguirre was invited as a wildcard to the seventh stop of the first A of the world circuit, the Oi Rio Pro that will take place between June 23 and 30 in Saquarema, Rio de Janeiro, a source informed DUKE.
It is presumed that Aguirre was invited because she is the current leader of the South American QS ranking and because this is the only CT in the region.
It will be the first time for the three-time South American youth champion in a CT and also the first time in history that the guest in the traditional Brazilian CT is not Brazilian.
This topic was discussed in a column published by DUKE in 2019 (click here).
According to DUKE, Aguirre was in Indonesia when he received the invitation and had to pack everything to return to South America.
It is presumed that since she is the 12th seed, she will go to round 1 against the number 1 seed, Carissa Moore.
The Peruvian is originally from the north of Peru and thanks to this she has an impeccable backside, but also a frontside. She won the Galápagos stage on the left and the Iquique stage on the right.
