Sol, Daniella, Arena, Leilani, Adur and Yago advanced in Newcastle
Lucas, Janire and Annette were not so lucky and left the event early.
Peruvians Sol Aguirre, Daniella Rosas, and Arena Rodríguez, along with Spanish surfers Yago Domínguez and Costa Rican Leilani McGonagle, got off to a good start in the Newcastle Challenger, advancing through their heats of the 80-round for men and the 48-round for women.
Mexican Lucas Cassity and fellow Spaniards Annette and Janire González Etxebarri were not so lucky and left the event early.
The 48- and 80-person rounds were held, and the 32- and 64-person rounds were determined, in which all Spanish-speaking participants will participate.
The best performance of the day among the women was by Peruvian Sol Aguirre, who scored 13,9 points to win her heat.
Among the men, the best was the Australian Alister Reginato who did 14,1.
