Some Olympic situations that could occur in Santiago 2023
If the already qualified athletes win, they open up space for the silver medal to travel to Paris 2024; the same happens if a country that has already used all its quota and has no eligible athletes wins, such as the Brazilian men.

Two of the 32 male and female shortboarders who will participate in Santiago 2023 have already qualified for Paris 2024, Alan Cleland and Tatiana Weston Webb, if these two win in Santiago 2023 they will open the Olympic qualification to the silver medalist (if he or she is eligible).
It could also happen that two Brazilian men, Krystian Kymmerson and Marcos Correa, are on the podium. In that case, since Brazil has already qualified Toledo and Chianca, the medal would go to the bronze medal (Kymmerson and Correa are not eligible).
Now, what happens if Cleland, Kymmerson and Correa occupy 1, 2 and 3? Then we go to the fourth place in Santiago 2023 to define the Olympic qualification based on that event.
At the women's level it is less complicated: Tatian Weston is the only woman and the only Brazilian qualified, so basically the only thing that could happen is that she places first and in that case the silver medalist would qualify, whoever it may be because all are eligible.
Below are all the shortboarders who will participate in Santiago 2023 and their respective seeding:
