Some photos from the late afternoon before the start of ALAS de Guatemala

The sea was getting better and better in El Rosario, with the best in the water

The afternoon before the start of the ALAS in Guatemala was a classic pre-tournament event, with most of the talents in the water.

For the better, the sea, which had been rough in the afternoon, began to settle down and ended up being even better than in the morning.

As is also typical, the sea today was far from what it was in the previous days. The horde of people arrived between yesterday and today and the few who were ahead like Sam Reidy, Tosh Talbot, Gabriel Vargas, Raúl Ríos... All of them surfed some great tubes (see video), which Vargas said made him feel in Indo.

They put in eight-hour sessions, they said.

But that's the way things are. The good thing is that the conditions look very competitive, now and for the rest of the championship.

Alex Suárez, the Latin Italo Ferreira, is the favorite in El Rosario.
Luchy Cosoleto came straight from Santiago 2023 to Guatemala, he left rowing for a while to, as he knows, show off on the short board.
Nadav Attar got injured a couple of days ago and he showed off by surfing injured. He showed off by filming his friends doing tubes. By karma he should do well in the event.
Alex is also flying from the backside.
The waves at El Rosario are heavy and this photo with 2015 world champion Noe Mar McGonagle makes that clear.
Gabriel Vargas had a blast getting tubes in, he spent eight hours straight surfing with his friend Raúl Ríos, "as if he were Indo," he said. Today he had to maneuver, and he did it well.

Rachel Agüero is the leader of the Under 18s and is fighting to remain so.
Jason Torres clocked in at 12:29, with his characteristic agility. The Costa Rican is in the top 5 in the ranking and wants to win another regional title.
Another one who made the journey from Santiago 2023 to Guatemala: Against wind and rain, Julián Schweizer nails the five with clarity and style, literally.
Luchy is always happy.
TTNI: Talent not yet identified attacking El Rosario's lip.
Ethan Hollander was the standout performer in this afternoon's free surfing session.
Blow tail of Lucas Pérez del Solar who knows how to surf this beach very well.
