South Africa's Bianca Buitendag has just clinched the African slot at the 2019 ISA World Surfing Games presented by Vans, after her two compatriots were eliminated from the event, making her the best African at the event, according to calculations made by DUKE.
Now, the only thing that can happen to prevent her from qualifying for Tokyo 2020 is if two other South Africans make it into the top six eligible for the 2020 World Surfing Games.
Buitendag is now in Round 5 of the main event and the worst she can do in the tournament is 11th place.
