Aritz Aranburu, Adur Amatriain, Gonzalo Gutierrez, Ariane Ochoa, Nadia Erostarbe and Garazi Sánchez will be the six Spanish surfers who will fight for the ISA world title and the European surfing qualification in Paris 2024, the Spanish Surfing Federation reported today.

The team will feature the Canarians Luis Díaz and Lucía Machado and the Basques Kai Odriozola and Janire González Etxebarri as substitutes.

The Surf City El Salvador ISA World Surfing Games, which will take place between May 30 and June 7, is the first qualifier for Paris 2024; it awards four male and four female spots, each for the best eligible surfer from Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania.

The federation reported that the criteria for selecting its athletes was as follows:

Selection details:

Aritz Aramburu

Spain put a lot of resources into achieving Olympic qualification in the lead-up period, putting in one of the best training sessions ever seen, training in different stops and ultimately falling just short.

They have just won medals at the SUP World Championships in Puerto Rico, the Para Surfing World Championships in Pismo, and the Junior World Championships that also took place in El Salvador.
