Spain will have its Mad Max pool in 2020

The company's press release reported that one will also be built in Brazil and there are four other locations marked

According to a press release from Surf Lakes, creators of the “Mad Max pool,” Spain will have a five-wave lake up and running in 2020 at an undisclosed location.

After its wave pumping technology was introduced to the world in October with several impressive videos, more than 200 companies inquired about obtaining licenses and six sites “are already positioning themselves to begin construction in 2019 and finish in 2020,” they say.

In addition to Spain, construction licenses were acquired in California, Arizona, Western Australia, Spain and Brazil.

“Our plan was to start with two five-wave lake builds, but the huge interest led us to think that three or maybe four more could begin construction next year and be up and running within 24 months,” CEO and founder Aaron Trevis said in the press release.

5 Wave's surf lakes are capable of producing up to 2400 waves per hour, offering five levels of waves from beginner to professional simultaneously, the statement said, adding that with this "interesting commercial proposition in mind" potential licensees have been exploring their business opportunities.

One of the interested parties plans to create the lake in an existing private community that has a golf course, clubhouse and other amenities. Others want to use it as an attraction for people to pay entrance fees, learn to surf or just go surfing.

On another property the owner already has a lake and wants to make it have waves.
