On February 12 and 13, a special surfing event will be held in the waves of Sector 5 of Reñaca, which will have a regular surfing event, a skate event and also one that combines both disciplines, tournament organizer Johannes Bock told DUKE.

“(The event) was born out of the need to activate the surfing competition here on Reñaca beach, which has been severely affected by the pandemic. Only local championships were held by the Reñaca Surfing Club. I decided to make this championship bigger, more attractive, with good prizes and to bring together the surfing family that had not met for so long,” Bock told DUKE.

“Not only to competitive surfers but also to all surfers in the country, to friends, to all young people. As it is not a federation, it is a championship that will have a new competition format to perhaps validate us as the ranking to be taken into account for future decisions of the federation. That is it: A response to the lack of championships, of instances for Chilean surfers to come together,” added Bock.

The poster announces the Open and Best Trick categories. There will also be live bands and a BMX demo.
