An iron statue was inaugurated this weekend, in front of the waves of La Paloma, one of the best waves in Mar del Plata, paying tribute to Carlos di Pace, the legendary Argentine surfer who died on August 19, 2021 while surfing in Pascuales, Mexico.

According to his brother, “Aguja” Santiago di Pace, “the tribute was given by a group of friends of Carlitos. They looked for a blacksmith who is the blacksmith shop of Chapadmalal, and they got together to raise this structure among all the friends who call themselves 'La Camarada Band'.”

The artist of the work that shows Carlos in a nice tube is called Pablo Ristevich.

Aguja said that he gave t-shirts to the whole group of friends who were behind the project and that he has sold out of all the t-shirts he made in memory of his brother and that for all the people who ask him, he will put t-shirts on sale at Pepe Gil's Bird Band surf shop.
