Duende, Estela and Leon won in Reñaca
The sea was very fun in Sector 5 over the weekend
Maximilian "Duende" Cross, Estela López and León de la Torre were the winners of the Volcom Madness, a special tournament held last weekend in Reñaca with tubes and good waves for maneuvers, the organization reported in a press release.
Cross, who was familiar with the wave, won the grand final against Guillermo Satt; López beat Lorena Fica and De la Torre did the same against another local, Tomás Bock.
“There are a lot of eyes on the team that will compete (in the 2023 Pan American Games), so it was a very important championship and I feel very happy to have won,” Cross said after the victory.
Johannes Bock, organizer and director of the championship, said: “I am very pleased with the quality of the championship, there were waves of 10 points which gave a high level to the competition. It is a motivation for surfing that Reñaca opened its beach to the world of surfing again and was the prelude to those who will represent us in the Pan American Games.”
