Strong Mexican team confirmed for the Pan American Games in Panama

Former world champions, award-winning aerialists, Pan-American competitors and renowned longboarders from the country will be in Venao

The Mexican Surfing Federation has confirmed a powerful team to compete in the Pan American Surfing Championships that will take place between August 7 and 13 in Playa Venao, Panama.

Their selection includes a former world champion like Jhonny Corzo, the Stab High vice-champion Sebastian Williams, the copper in Lima 2019 Shelby Detmers, the current MexiLog Fest champion Jonathan Melendres, among many other talents.

The team travels with 18 of 20 surfers who make a complete squad, but two SUP racers were missing.

Mexico finished the last Pan American Games, in Punta Rocas in 2018, in eighth position in the ranking; it managed to have four participants in Lima 2019: Shelby Detmers, Jhonny Corzo, Risa Machuca and Felipe Rodríguez.
