He was identified as Matthew Reid, he was 36 years old and was from Torrance, California.

A California surfer identified as Matthew Reid died last Thursday while surfing the waves of Playa Mizata in El Salvador, several media outlets in the country reported.
It was a day with a lot of waves and apparently, he had been warned about the dangers of sliding there.
After the morning passed, they gave the alert to look for him and he was found on a jetty, against which he hit and ended up inside a cave from which he could not get out.
The authorities had to wait for the tide to go out to be able to remove him.
Matthew was from Torrance California, he was 36 years old, married and had two children.
A Gofundme to help his family was immediately set up.
