Surfing has become legal again in Cartagena as of this week, local media outlet Caracol Radio reported.

According to reports weeks ago, the central government had approved the practice of the sport but not the local one.

A decree issued on August 31 and published on social media on September 3 authorized the practice.

In a protest that took place weeks ago, former world champion in adaptive surfing, Freddy Marimón, expressed that his rivals from around the world were taking advantage of him because he could not practice.

According to Caracol, the director of the District Institute of Sports and Recreation, Viviana Londoño Moreno, confirmed the legality of the sport in the emblematic Colombian city.
