Switzerland is preparing to have a wave pool in 2020
In Regensdorf, 15 minutes from Zurich. The builders are in the final stages of obtaining permits.
Rogensdorf, a Swiss town located 15 minutes from Zurich airport, is preparing to have its own wave pool in 2020, reported the website specialized in surfing on artificial waves, Wavepool.
Not all permits have yet been issued for building in the area chosen by Sebastián Bosson, the person in charge of the project, but it is expected that the public vote of the city council will be positive.
It is also unclear what technology the resort will have: “The technology needs to be effective in terms of wave per hour, variety of wave types, energy consumption, construction method, and also at an affordable price for all attendees,” said Bosson.
“The Swiss are passionate about a wide variety of sports. However, the boardsport culture in general is huge. Skateboarding, snowboarding, windsurfing and kitesurfing are very popular and possible in Switzerland,” explained the creator of the project. On the other hand, “the surroundings of Zurich have agglomerations of 1,5 million inhabitants, the largest population in Switzerland and it is close to neighbouring countries such as Germany, France and Austria,” he added.
Architect Enzo Enea is working on the design of the city's first swimming pool.
