Tahiti regulations make life difficult for unvaccinated surfers
The government is asking for 10 days of quarantine for them and the start date of the waiting period is five days after the Mexican event.
The Tahiti government's regulations and the dates of the next two legs of the world tour have left unvaccinated surfers on the tour in jeopardy.
The Mexico event runs from August 10-19 and the Tahiti event from August 24-Sept. 3, with Tahiti requiring unvaccinated visitors to quarantine for 10 days.
According to Stab magazine, there are indeed surfers on the world tour who are not vaccinated against Covid-19 and this would leave them in a weak position to participate in the last stage of the tour before the finals.
The same note points out that the WSL is preparing a 2022 circuit that travels to countries that do not distinguish between vaccinated and unvaccinated people and that this could mean between 50 and 100 days of quarantine for surfers.
Just traveling to Australia is 14 days in a hotel.
