The men's trials for the tenth leg of the WSL World Tour will take place between August 6 and 7 and will feature only local Tahitian surfers, local channel Polynésie la 1ère reported.
The event will feature 32 local surfers and only one will occupy the wildcard spot. A few years ago the wildcards were international and through them surfers like Aritz Aranburu and Ricardo dos Santos managed to get into the main event.
Last year the winner of the trials was Kauli Vaast who finished the event in second place.
For its part, the female space seems to have already been confirmed for the outstanding local Vahine Fierro.
Fierro has already qualified for Paris 2024 thanks to her results at the ISA in El Salvador in 2023.
The event will also be a test tournament for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, with delegations from the ISA and the Games' organisers themselves being present in Tahiti.
