China's $26 million pool is taking shape and is already tubing
Five more of these are being built in different areas of the country.

New images of the Chinese replica of Slater's pool were released yesterday, showing it looking higher and better shaped than in previous videos. According to an ISA-certified instructor who told Surfline, five more pools like this are being built in the country.
As is evident, the bathymetry of the pool has undergone radical changes in recent months, Zanella notes. Right now they are only using a shoulder-height right-hander. “There are three sections: The outside one which is the most tubular, then a more maneuverable section that travels for 200 meters and at the end it gets fast again.”
The pool is 700 meters long by 150 meters wide, the left one is not yet in use.
Zanella says there are different types of waves that the machine uses magnetic and electrical energy, from waist-high to three meters, although they have not yet used that power.
The wave can only be used by members of national and regional teams.
Located in the Extreme Sport Training Centre of Henan Province, a province in the Yellow River Valley of central China, it is widely recognized as the place where Chinese civilization originated.
