The Basque brand Pukas was runner-up of the Stab in the Dark

The prestigious shaping tournament, which this year had Mick Fanning as test driver, placed Axel Lorentz's shapes in second place. Brit Merrick was the big winner of the night.

Basque board brand Pukas has just taken second place at the Stab in the Dark, which this year had Mick Fanning as test rider and which chose as winner a Channel Island board owned by Brit Merrick, who won the event for the first time.

This is the best result achieved by a European board brand in the history of this tournament, which this year celebrated its fourth edition and in which 10 of the most prestigious brands in the world participated.

“Thank you Australia, thank you Stab for making this happen,” said a representative of Pukas at the awards ceremony that took place in Sydney, Australia a few moments ago. “We are a big family, we are very grateful, people were rooting for us here in Sydney, which is rare for a company from Europe. And thank you to Mick Fanning for being such a good test driver,” he concluded.

Stab in the Dark brings together several boards each year, giving them to one of the best surfers in the world who is followed in the process of choosing the best board.

The builders don't know who they will give the board to, they only know its weight and the characteristics of the waves they will be surfing.
