CT will be broadcast in Spanish this year

Mateo Rojas from Argentina, Mitchell Salazar, Fito Garcia and Kalle Carranza from Mexico will be in charge

The World Surf League has just announced in a press release that it will be adding a separate live channel exclusively in Spanish to its live broadcast of world circuit events. The channel will be hosted by Mateo Rojas from Argentina and Mitchell Salazar, Fito García and Kalle Carranza from Mexico, the Argentine panelist told DUKE.

Rojas also reported that both Portuguese and Spanish will be broadcasting from the WSL offices in California.

"It's great that the WSL is promoting this initiative of broadcasting in their language to people who may not speak English or Portuguese and that it is focusing on the audience that comes from Spain and Latin America," said Rojas, who has been working for years in ISA tournaments.

“For me it is a great responsibility and it happened in a very crazy and casual way. It started on the ALAS circuit, from there they heard me at the ISA and thanks to Otto Flores I started there and after six years it ended on the most important circuit. It is very exciting; I think it is the highest you can reach in terms of broadcasting… The next thing would be the Olympic Games,” added the Argentine who thanked Kalle Carranza who was the one who put him in contact with the organization.

Carranza will not be present in the first tournament and the trio will be formed by Rojas, Salazar and García; they will be joined in the second stage, in Bells.

Salazar was a Mexican professional, just like Carranza, known, in addition to his impeccable surfing, for having left professional surfing to go live and study in Finland. Finally, García is a Mexican TV host based in California, according to his social networks.

All indications are that the event will start on the 11th as the waves on the Gold Coast are expected to be perfect.
